Community Meeting: Living in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) & Property Insurance

Do you have questions about how wildfire risk impacts your home insurance?
Join the Conifer Wildland Division for an important Community Meeting focused on living in the WUI and understanding your property insurance options.
Tuesday, October 28 at 6:30 PM
Conifer High School, 10441 County Hwy 73, Conifer, CO 80433
We’ll be joined by three special guests who bring vital insights on insurance, resources, and legislation impacting Colorado homeowners:
Lisa Hughes, United Policyholders (uphelp.org) – will offer guidance on how to be a savvy consumer when insuring your biggest asset: your home. Topics include:
• An update on the Colorado home insurance marketplace
• What fine print matters most
• Lessons learned from the Marshall Fire
• How to save money in these unprecedented times
• What to do if you’re dropped by your insurer
Kelly Campbell, Colorado FAIR Plan (coloradofairplan.com) – will explain the Fair Access to Insurance Requirements (FAIR) Plan, created through HB23-1288 and signed into law in 2023.
• The FAIR Plan was created to address situations where insurance companies may refuse coverage due to high-risk factors.
• It ensures homeowners and businesses in Colorado have access to insurance even in areas prone to natural disasters or other risks.
Senator Lisa Cutter – will share legislative updates related to wildfire and property insurance in Colorado.

There will also be time for Q&A with the above speakers as well as members of the Conifer Wildland Division and Jefferson County's Wildland Fire Program, so bring your questions about living in and owning property in our wildfire-prone community.
Let’s work together to stay informed, insured, and resilient.
