Fire Suppression

Structural and Wildland Fire suppression are a main focus of the district. All fire fighters are trained to a minimum level of Colorado State Structural Firefighter 1 and NWCG Firefighter 2.

Wildland fire is one of the hazards that poses the greatest threat to the district. All firefighters are trained in Wildland Urban Interface operations and when the fire danger decreases in our area, will travel around the country to assist other agencies.

Elk Creek also hosts a Wildland Fire Suppression module which is a 10 person group of highly trained wildland firefighters. When they are not committed to fire operations, they work on fuels reduction projects in the district.
